Subaru Australia has been announced as the new naming rights partner of Rally Tasmania, round four of the 2018 CAMS Australian Rally Championship (ARC).

The Tasmanian rally returns to the ARC after a seven-year absence, with it last running in 2010 as a tarmac rally.

The new partnership enhances Subaru Australia and Tasmanian motor sport’s already strong relationship, with Rally Tasmania’s clerk of course Graham Malcolm excited with the news.

“It’s great to announce that Subaru Australia have signed as the naming rights sponsor of Rally Tasmania,” Malcolm said.

“We are very excited to partner with a brand that has such a strong heritage in rallying, but also a strong presence in the Tasmanian car market.”

The Tasmanian and Subaru partnership includes local Subaru dealer Buckby Motors’ involvement with both the Australian Targa and Tasmanian Rally Championships, as well as Tasmanian based Les Walkden Rallying’s preparation of Subaru Do Motorsport,

“Tasmania has been very lucky to host Molly Taylor and the Subaru Do Motorsport team for the past two years, as she has entered local rally events and conducted her testing and development within the state,” Malcolm added.

Subaru Australia were also the naming rights sponsor of Tasmania’s last gravel rally in the CAMS Australian Rally Championship, the Southern Safari, from 2002 to its final year in 2006.

The Subaru Rally Tasmania will be run on 27 – 29 July with drivers to compete on closed forest roads surrounding the city of Launceston.
